Core Modules
TMF6044 - ICT Infrastructures
The course covers the ICT infrastructure components such as transmission media, Internet protocols and addressing, switching, design and different type of broadband access technologies. This course also provides practical in network laboratory to underpinning the knowledge on addressing and network programming.
TMF6024 - Decision Support Systems for Managers
The primary focus of this course is to develop intellectual capabilities among managers on how to utilize DSS to improve decision making in an organization. The topic includes an overview of DSS fundamentals: how people makes decisions, analyzing business decision process, understanding the architecture of DSS, and benefits of DSS. This course also examines the design, development and implementation of DSS that support managerial and professional work, including Communications-Driven and Group Support Systems (GSS), Data-Driven DSS, Model-Driven DSS, Document-Driven DSS, and Knowledge-Driven DSS. The issues on evaluating the DSS project and reflections on the past and present of DSS are also discussed in this course.
TMF6064 - Mobile Multimedia Communications
This course covers the issues related to mobile multimedia elements, the principles of mobile communication and the requirements to ensure better communication of these elements related to mobile devices. Communication issues will be covered where issues such as the notion of Quality of Service and performance guarantees for mobile multimedia traffic as well as standards and protocols to assist multimedia data transfer in mobile networks will also be discussed. Students will also be able to discuss the existing mobile multimedia applications in networks.
TMF6074 - Software Development Methodology
This course will focus on Object-oriented Software Development Methodology. Student will re-cap the basic of Object Oriented concepts and Unified Modeling Language (UML). The course also introduces the advanced object design with patterns. Student will learn to design and develop software using object-oriented concept, advanced pattern, generate and interpret UML models as applied to a wide range of activities using significant extensions and enhancements of UML2 based on Unified Process.
TMF6084 - Advanced Topics in Databases
The main objectives of this course are to provide an in-depth understanding of advanced concepts and research directions in the field of databases. The course is organized into three parts:

For a MSc, the normal duration of study for a Master's degree (by research) is (2 - 4) years full-time or (3 - 6) years part-time.
Decision Support Systems
Provides an overview of decision support system fundamentals: how people make decisions, how systems work, where models fit into the DSS picture, benefits of DSS, and ways to classify them. It covers technical and non-technical DSS development issues. This includes hardware and software technologies, implementation and some ethical issues, the major kinds of models that are useful for decision support, optimization, group decision support systems, and expert systems. Data warehousing and its database will also be introduced and their contents and implementation analysis will be presented too.
For a PhD, the normal duration is (3 - 6) years full-time and (4 - 8) years part-time.
Multimedia Communications
Covers the issues related to multimedia elements, the principles of communication and the requirements to ensure better communication of these elements. Communication issues will be covered where issues such as the notion of Quality of Service and performance guarantees for multimedia traffic will be discussed. Standards and protocols to assist multimedia data transfer will be discussed as well. Students would be able to discuss on the existing multimedia applications in networks.
