Applied Social Informatics
The Applied Social Informatics Research Cluster is an interdisciplinary platform that connects computing with community and society. The cluster investigates how digital technologies can be designed, adopted and governed to create inclusive and high-impact solutions for communities, organizations and businesses. Its work spans human-centered systems, digital transformation, social innovation, digital entrepreneurship and data-informed decision-making. By integrating technical expertise with social, cultural and institutional perspectives, the cluster supports Sarawak’s Digital Economy agenda and Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), while strengthening FCSIT UNIMAS as a catalyst for sustainable innovation, talent development and responsible societal progress.
Aim
We aim to advance applied research at the intersection of people, technology, business and society. The cluster develops human-centered and socially responsible digital solutions while examining how individuals, organizations and communities adopt, adapt and shape emerging technologies. Our research supports digital entrepreneurship, organizational transformation, inclusive innovation, responsible leadership and sustainable economic development in Sarawak and beyond.
Objectives
(a) To design, develop and evaluate human-centered digital solutions that address the needs of communities, businesses, government agencies and industries.
(b) To advance digital transformation, business solutions and social innovation through the responsible application of emerging technologies and data.
(c) To foster Sarawak’s Digital Economy agenda and PCDS 2030 through applied research, strategic partnerships, talent development and high-impact innovation.
