Malaysia berdepan risiko jenayah siber menggunakan AI

Penggunaan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (AI) kini merentas pelbagai bidang.

Sebagai cabang ilmu sains komputer, AI membantu kita membuat keputusan.

Ia juga berpotensi menawarkan manfaat yang luas, terutama meningkatkan keberkesanan di tempat kerja.

Memetik laporan BERNAMA, AI dikatakan juga berpotensi digunakan pihak tidak bertanggungjawab dalam memanipulasi teknologi ini bagi tujuan jenayah.

Kemampuan AI meniru ciri-ciri manusia seperti wajah, tubuh, dan suara menjadikannya hampir sempurna kini turut digunakan dalam penipuan siber.

Meskipun di Malaysia kes jenayah yang melibatkan AI belum berleluasa, namun kejadian serupa dilaporkan sering berlaku di luar negeri.

Menurut Ts. Syahrul Nizam Junaini, felo penyelidik Pusat Data Sains yang juga pensyarah kanan Fakulti Komputer Sains dan Teknologi Maklumat, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), AI yang digunakan dalam penipuan melibatkan algoritma yang dapat meniru ciri-ciri visual dan audio.

Sukar bagi kita membezakan yang asli dan yang palsu.

Contoh teknologi AI adalah Deepfake. Ia dapat menghasilkan video palsu yang mirip video asli.

Peningkatan ini menimbulkan cabaran bagi agensi penguatkuasa dalam menangani penipuan dalam talian dan jenayah kewangan.

Penggunaan AI dalam kes jenayah memerlukan kepakaran khusus, terutama dalam menangani bukti kes penipuan digital.

Bagi menangani ancaman jenayah siber, Syahrul Nizam menyarankan Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) meningkatkan jumlah pakar AI selain memastikan kepakaran pegawai sedia ada sentiasa dipertingkatkan seiring perkembangan teknologi.

PDRM juga digalakan bekerjasama dengan penyelidik dari pusat pengajian tinggi.

Pada masa sama, teknologi AI untuk mencegah jenayah juga perlu dimanfaatkan.

Di samping itu, kerajaan perlu bersedia menyediakan dana memastikan sistem keselamatan siber lebih terjamin.

Intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) continuously monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and proactively block or mitigate potential threats, bolstering the system's resilience against cyber attacks.

Moreover, fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness among users is essential for enhancing overall security posture. Educating employees about common cyber threats, such as phishing scams and malware attacks, empowers them to recognize and respond appropriately to potential risks. Regular training sessions and simulated phishing exercises can help reinforce security best practices and instill a sense of responsibility for protecting sensitive information.

In conclusion, navigating the cybersecurity landscape requires a comprehensive understanding of vulnerabilities and the implementation of robust security measures. By addressing vulnerabilities proactively, fortifying systems with layers of defense, and cultivating a culture of cybersecurity awareness, organizations and individuals can effectively mitigate risks and safeguard their digital assets against evolving cyber threats. Tarikh 14 Februari 2024 menandakan genap 30 tahun Profesor Dr Narayanan Kulathu Ramaiyer berkhidmat 30 di UNIMAS.

Dalam tempoh tersebut, mantan Dekan Fakulti Sains Komputer dan Teknologi Maklumat ini aktif memberi sumbangan tidak ternilai.

Nama beliau tersohor terutama dalam memajukan bidang teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi di Bumi Kenyalang.

Profesor Narayanan juga seorang mentor, inovator, dan pemikir.

Melalui dedikasinya, beliau membimbing generasi baharu dengan mempersiapkan mereka menghadapi cabaran masa depan.

Selain itu, pencapaian Prof Narayanan diiktiraf di peringkat nasional dan antarabangsa.

Beliau memberikan impak yang signifikan dalam bidang akademik dan industri.

Beliau tidak hanya meninggalkan jejak dalam bentuk penerbitan ilmiah.

Beliau juga berjaya memahat memori indah dalam hati mahasiswa dan rakan sekerja.
